Hollyhand Development, LLC specializes in all facets in affordable housing finance, development, construction and management utilizing the low income housing tax credit program. Formed in 2003, Hollyhand Development is the development affiliate of Doug Hollyhand Realty, Inc. based in Northport, Alabama. Winton E. Yerby provides direction as President, and Douglas P. Hollyhand and Brian D. Hollyhand serving as Vice Presidents, provide support in the areas of construction and property management. Marcella A. Roberts, Esq. serves as Vice President of Development and has extensive experience in community development and affordable housing finance. Hollyhand Development principals have over 50 years of combined experience.


Our development team has completed numerous projects and has several in various stages of development, of which three will be finalized in the first half of 2015. These projects include among others community redevelopment initiatives utilizing the Purpose Built Communities model , projects serving homeless veterans utilizing VA funding and VASH vouchers, and projects providing replacement housing after the devastating 2011 Alabama tornados. Current projects utilize Disaster Relief Funds, state and federal historic credits, project based Section 8 vouchers, state and local HOME funds, PHA Capital Funds and RAD.


Included among Hollyhand Development’s projects are 5 phases of public housing redevelopment, comprising over 550 units. Through Alabama’s highly competitive application funding process, Hollyhand has generated over $70 million dollars in private equity for public housing redevelopment.


Our skill set includes:

•  Utilizing the 9% program public housing redevelopment;

•  Working with HUD Field Office and Mixed Finance Officials;

•  Providing necessary predevelopment funding and

    financial guarantees for successful completion of projects;

•  Analyzing and selecting sites based on construction, market,

    and selection criteria concerns;

•  Developing detailed development and construction budgets

    for public housing redevelopment;

•  Working with housing finance agencies and other sources

    of financing including sources of HOME funds and Federal

    Home Loan Bank Affordable Housing Program;

•  Commissioning market studies;

•  Analyzing letters of intent from potential equity investors

    and closing partnership agreements securing tax credit equity;

•  Overseeing and completing construction and any required

    demolition in accordance with tax credit program time tables; and

•  Managing properties in compliance with tax credit and

    applicable HUD requirements
